“I have been reading Poetry for a half century as of this past April, and this is one of the most profound Christmas poems I have ever read. In fact, after the first reading, I just stared at it—not entirely convinced it was real, but, by golly, it is. I hope you are proud of this verbal accomplishment: it is excellent in every way. And the third and fourth lines are powerfully poignant, so very powerfully poignant!!!!! ” (december 2023)
